If you still think LinkedIn is just a place to post your résumé and quietly…

LinkedIn Consistency Matters…. Even When You Don’t Feel Like It…
We’ve all had those mornings:
You open LinkedIn with the best intentions…
…and your brain goes completely blank.
Cue the guilt spiral.
Cue the scroll of doom.
Cue the inner critic whispering, “You should be posting something valuable.”
Sound familiar?
Here’s the thing (and this kind of goes for anything really….)—posting on LinkedIn when you’re feeling it is easy.
But posting when you’re not? That’s where you grow and learn the most!
Because showing up—especially when you don’t feel like it—is what builds trust, familiarity, and eventually, opportunity.
And yes, I know that sounds a little counterintuitive. So let me pull back the curtain and show you why consistency beats brilliance 9 times out of 10.
The Real Reason People “See You Everywhere”
I get messages like this all the time:
“Hey Leanne, I loved your post the other day about [insert topic here]!”*
Or more often…
“Leanne, I see you everywhere!!”*
Which always makes me laugh a little. Because I’m not everywhere.
I don’t post every day. I’m not an algorithm-whisperer…..
And some weeks? My content strategy looks a lot like “winging it with purpose.”
But I am consistent.
I show up often enough that people start to feel like I’m a regular in their feed—like a trusted voice in the room, not a random drive-by marketer.
And that “I see you everywhere” feeling? That’s the power of consistency.
It creates the illusion of omnipresence without you burning out or going viral.
It keeps your name warm in the minds of potential clients, collaborators, and lurkers who may not like or comment—but they’re watching.
And when the time comes for them to hire a speaker, join a workshop, or recommend someone to their network?
You’re not a cold call. You’re a warm “Oh yeah, I know her.”
Even When You’re Not Feeling It… Show Up Anyway
So yes, some days, your brain will serve you brilliance on a silver platter.
But other days? You’ll be scraping together words like leftovers in the fridge.
Here’s how to still show up on those days—and why it matters.
1. Shift the Question
Let’s flip the script.
Instead of:
❌ “What on earth am I going to post today?”
Try:
✅ “What can I do today that supports my goals and serves my people?”
This tiny shift opens up more than just content ideas. It helps you stop feeling like you need to impress the algorithm and instead focus on connection and service.
Even if you’re not writing a post, you can still move your goals forward.
2. Show Up Without Writing a Post
Yup, you read that right.
You can still get traction on LinkedIn without publishing a single new post. Try one of these:
- Leave a thoughtful comment on someone else’s post (yes, thoughtful > clever)
- Give a shout-out to a colleague or client who’s doing amazing work
- Slide into someone’s DMs with a genuine compliment or note of appreciation
- Record a 20-second voice or video message to say thank you
- Drop some value inside a LinkedIn group you’re part of
True story:
One of my workshop attendees couldn’t bring herself to post, but she left three comments and one DM in a week—and landed a virtual coffee that turned into a client conversation.
That’s traction, my friend.
3. Build a “When I’m Meh” Inspiration Bank
Future-you will thank past-you for this.
Start a Google Doc, a Notes app folder, or even a sticky note on your desk where you stash:
- Posts you’ve commented on or saved (and your take on them)
- Questions people often ask you
- Things that annoy or energize you in your industry
- Quotes or tips from podcasts, events, or books
- Moments from your own journey (even the messy middle parts)
That way, when your energy is low, you’ve already got a stockpile of real, relatable material to work with—no reinventing the wheel required.
4. Embrace the “B-Post”
Not every post needs to be a mic-drop moment.
- A quick takeaway.
- A one-liner.
- A photo with a caption.
- A “thinking out loud” moment.
These are all valid and valuable. In fact, they often perform better because they’re human, unpolished, and real.
Remember: Your goal isn’t to be perfect. It’s to be present.
Consistency Wins. Even If It’s Quiet.
Your audience doesn’t need you to be profound every day.
They need to know you’re in the room.
And when you show up—even on the meh days—you build the kind of brand that sticks.
People don’t remember every post.
But they do remember how often they see your name.
They remember how you made them feel.
And that’s what moves them down the path from passive reader to eager buyer.

*after people tell me they “see me everywhere”, they typically continue to tell me all about their life, their career journey, or their LinkedIn journey…. Because they feel they know me and feel comfortable enough to share – I have the ultimate honor to hear their story
