The Personal Branding Step Most Professionals Skip: Naming Your Framework

I spent weeks trying to cram my framework into a clever acronym. Turns out the problem was never the name.

When I created my branding program, I hit a wall I did not see coming. Not the curriculum. Not the pricing. The name.

I knew my repeatable process needed a name. So I did what every marketing book says to do. I tried acronyms. I tried alliteration. I tried catchy phrases that sounded brilliant at 11pm and ridiculous the next morning.

Nothing stuck.

For weeks I blamed my naming skills.
Then it finally clicked. The framework was the problem, not the name.

I had five steps.
Five is too many.
Too many to remember.
Too many to repeat.
Too many for a client to describe to a colleague over lunch when she says, “You need to talk to this woman.”

And that moment, the lunch table referral, is where consulting clients actually come from.

So I went back to the whiteboard. Stripped the process down to its studs. Found the three steps that did all the heavy lifting, and pruned everything else.

The result: Define. Design. Deliver.
Name what you know. Make it look like a real offer. Get it in front of the people who will pay for it.

Three words. One clear direction. Instantly repeatable.

That naming disaster taught me something I now hand to every client: your framework is a shape, not a container. Its job was never to hold everything you know. Its job is to give your expertise a form other people can pick up, carry, and pass along.

Because when your clients can repeat your process, in their own words, to the right person, at the right moment, your framework becomes your best salesperson. You stop chasing leads. They arrive already sold on how you work.

So if you are a senior professional building your next chapter, whether you are stepping into consulting or already running your own thing, you are probably not missing a framework. You may have too much of one. The work is subtraction. Strip it back until what is left is simple enough to remember and strong enough to sell itself.

Not more credentials. Not a louder presence online. A smaller, sharper framework with your name on it.

If your best client had to describe your process over lunch tomorrow, could she do it in one sentence?

P.S. This is exactly the work we do inside the Next Chapter Visibility Collective: excavating, simplifying, and naming the methodology you have been running for years. If that is the work you are ready to do, I would love to talk.

P.P.S. Not sure your expertise is ready to sell yet? My Payable Expertise Assessment takes a few minutes and shows you exactly where you stand.

Leanne
