Did someone tell you I had a big ego?

There was a time I couldn’t get through a sales call training without crying.

Not because I didn’t know the words to use.  I did.

But I was an introvert, (a female Canadian one at that…) and I had ZERO comfort selling myself.
Sales calls felt like auditions. Networking events, even worse.

And as a raging introvert, I kept thinking:

“There has to be a better way to build a business.”

There was.  It was online.

Not because I wanted attention.
Not because I suddenly loved visibility.

But because I needed a way to build trust that didn’t require me to “work the room.”

Social media became my sales sandbox.
My credibility sandbox.
My trust-builder, without the sales messaging.

At first, ya, it felt like ego, but I quickly learned….Talking about your expertise online is not ego.

It’s social selling.
It’s positioning.
It’s service.

Many expert professionals hesitate to show up because they think:

“I don’t want to look like I’m bragging.”
“I’ve always let my work speak for itself.”
“I’m not the kind of person who promotes myself.”

I get it.

You’ve built a reputation in rooms where people already knew your value.

But when you’re building a next chapter business?

You’re stepping into new rooms.

And in new rooms, people can’t reference what they don’t see.

Put a pin in this –
You are not “taking up space” online.
You are creating visibility around the value you’ve spent decades building.
You are serving your future customers with content that helps them solve their today problem.

There is nothing egotistical about that.

You sell through serving.
You build trust by sharing insight.
You demonstrate authority without ever saying, “Look how great I am.”

Focused on being useful.  And something powerful can happen.

People will refer you to rooms you’ve never stepped foot in.  They’ll be able to say:

“This is how they help.”

You should never have to apologize for building visibility around your expertise.

Ego says, “Admire me.”
Service says, “Here’s what I’ve learned. Use it.”

If you’re building a next chapter and hesitating to show up online because it feels unfamiliar…

Remember:

You’re not starting over.
You’re reimagining your expertise.

And the world can’t reference what it doesn’t see.

Sound good?
